Employment Practices Liability (EPL)

EPL insurance is coverage protecting an employer against suits brought by employees which involve work related matters. The areas of concern can include charges of wrongful termination, failure to promote, discrimination under any of the civil rights laws, sexual harassment, etc.

For non-profit organizations, this coverage is usually written as part of a Directors & Officers policy. For-profit companies can have it attached to their D&O policy or can purchase a stand alone policy.

EPL coverage has become one of the most important types of insurance a company can consider. The number of law suits involving these types of allegations has increased exponentially over the past few years.
